Many systems can be installed at home with a little time and know-how, and manufacturers will always provide detailed instructions, which will vary from system to system.
You will generally follow these steps:
Remove the valve stem caps from your tires and stow them somewhere safe.
Check and adjust your tire pressure.
Calibrate the monitoring system. This will involve inputting the tire’s ideal pressure, which can be found in your vehicle's handbook or online.
Install the sensor – cap-based sensors can simply be screwed onto the valve stem in place of the caps you just removed.
Activate the system, and check it’s receiving a signal from each tire.
